John Travolta Kissed Scarlett Johansson…

on the cheek over the weekend on some awards show I don’t watch. What I want to know is why in the world anyone would care. Wars are beinggives a crap fought, people are dying of starvation, terrorists are blowing themselves and others up, funding for education is being slashed, and government is owned by big business – but, holy shit, an actor kissed an actress on the cheek and the world goes crazy. Am I the only one who thinks that this is all just a major distraction patronized by those either too stupid, too weak, or too scared to pay attention to real life? I fact, the whole cult of celebrity – the national religion – is nothing but a huge distraction that is not only irrelevant but will turn you into a sniveling fool who can’t carry on an intelligent conversation and who will continue to vote for whatever loser the – you guess it, corporate owned – media tell you to vote for. In fact, it’s not too big a stretch to suggest that our obsession with celebrities and our willingness to live our lives vicariously through them is one of our biggest social problems. But hey, don’t forget to renew you subscription to People magazine. What’s even sadder is that this post will get a lot of hits from people looking to masturbate to pictures of Scarlett Johansson.
