There is no justifiable reason to take the life of another human being. The great religions and their adherents throughout history have consistently failed to take an unequivocal stand against killing by consistently allowing exceptions to their version of “Do no murder.” It’s no accident that we live in a society replete with violence when our government is unable to find non-violent solutions to its problems, our courts continue to execute murderers, and our legislatures turn back the clock on education and the rights of women and people of color.
