Book Review: The Lotus and the Rose

The Lotus and the Rose is a dialogue between Matthew Fox and Lama Tsomo, a western Buddhist Lama in the Tibetan tradition. Matthew Fox has been a voice for progressive, non-shaming Christianity for decades. Originally a Roman Catholic priest and later an Episcopal Priest, he is the author of many books.

I believe that anyone interested in Interspirituality or Ecumenism and Interfaith discussion will find this book fascinating. The two explore the commonalities of their traditions and others in a respectful, informative, and lively style that draws the reader into their conversation. The bulk of the book is a transcript of live Q&A sessions that retains it’s readability despite the somewhat awkward format. Highly recommended for all students and aficionados of religions or spirituality!
