There seems to be some confusion that I would like to clear up. The job of an ordained deacon, priest, bishop, and lay person is to follow Jesus. Jesus never said “don’t cuss.” Jesus hung out with fishermen. Fishermen cuss.

Jesus did teach people to be nonviolent, to protect the oppressed, to lift up the down trodden. He taught us to love one another, to treat everyone as our equal, including foreigners and immigrants.

Some people seem to forget those truths and run around worrying about whether or not clergy say “fuck.” That’s a convenient way to avoid doing the hard work of being a follower of Jesus. Nobody is fooled.
