Rest and Chronic Pain

For the person with chronic pain, rest can be a double-edged sword. Many of us find remaining in one position for any length of time causes pain. We also find that fatigue causes our pain to increase. When we become fatigued, then, we can’t simply retreat to bed for a day like many people can, because our pain will increase which will cause us to fail to get rest and leave us further behind the eight ball. That is why proper sleep hygiene and avoiding late nights is so important to us. It’s not that we don’t want to stay out with you – we just don’t want to spend the next three weeks paying for it!
