We all seem to love simple answers, even to life’s most complex questions, and many of us seem to labor under the delusion that human beings can now solve any problem or, at the very least, understand its origins. Such beliefs may make us rest easier at night, but they are based in self-deception rather than in fact. The truth is that there are still mysteries, and there probably always will be. Happiness comes from learning to live in those mysteries rather than simply pretending they don’t exist. Maybe our mantra should be, “It’s okay to not know!”
