Compassion and the Elderly

VzeL8u3Every once in a while I have the opportunity to hear adults interact with their elderly parents. Quite often the conversations are very disappointing because they are laden with condescension toward the elderly parent. “You know, dad, you are almost 80 and you can’t be staying up so late! Ten o’clock is too late!”

WHAT? If I am lucky to make “almost 80,” I will still be staying up just as late as I damn well please. If my children, or anyone else for that matter, talk to me in a condescending manner, I will get my friends together and we will run that person’s ass over in our electric scooters and leave their body on the side of the nursing home sidewalk. Don’t mess with the elderly, bitches!
