What Serves You?

With the exception of those of us who live in parts of the world where old cars on blocks, replaced bathtubs, broken water heaters, and long deadkeep-calm-and-focus-on-the-positive-1 kitchen appliances are considered yard decorations, most of us don’t keep things around that are broken and so no longer work. When it comes to beliefs, however, we often take the opposite course of action. We hold on to beliefs, especially about ourselves, that simply are not true and in fact hold us back from the happiness we deserve. We believe we aren’t competent adults, despite the fact that we go to work every day and manage to keep a roof over our head, clothes on our back, and food on our table. What might happen if we chose to focus on those things, the things we do well, instead of all the negative self talk that is probably habitual? We might just find that we discard the beliefs that no longer serve us once we choose to focus on something more positive. What do you have to lose?
