Honoring Veterans

If you want to honor veterans, you must abandon war as an instrument of national policy. Anything less is a joke, the worst kind of self deception. We must work for the day when old men and women stop sending young men and women to die in war. The surest way to do that would be a return to the days of old and and pass a Constitutional Amendment requiring the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, and the Senate majority and minority leaders to lead the troops into battle. They could be followed by the children of every member of Congress. Of course, neither they nor we have the stones for that kind of real change, so the cowards will continue to play games with the lives of the disenfranchised.
