There are those among us who are so unable to tolerate mystery and uncertainty that they gravitate toward explanations that, to most of us, seem at best far fetched and at worst psychotic. The truth is that, for these people, the certainty earned by diving headlong into even the most tortuous explanation is so preferable to the intense discomfort that they experience from not knowing that the disdain they encounter from those of us more tolerant of uncertainty is a small price to pay. What they need from us is love, not disdain, in the hopes that their world may become safe enough for them to take halting steps into the mystery that is life in all its fullness.
