I’m not Tired, I’m Just Big Boned!

I am aware that I get tired more quickly than I did twenty years ago. In fact I get tired more quickly than I did even ten years ago. Back taurimmune-fatiguein the day, denial worked pretty well to overcome fatigue, but of course not as well as I thought. I actually believed I could will myself to be more awake, and if I chased that will with an espresso it was especially effective. Now I find I could drink an entire Starbucks franchise and it wouldn’t make a difference beyond increasing the number of times I have to get up at night to use the bathroom. We do much better if we listen to and accept our bodies messages that tell us when we are tired, injured, or sick. This tendency we develop in our early adult lives to ignore our bodies, most often to please an employer, come back to hurt us in the long run. We reach the age where denial no longer works, and if we attempt to persevere through adversity all we get is injured or sick. Listen to your body – it’s the only one you have!
