The Paradox of “Special”

We like to think we are special, unique, and at certain points in our life it’s necessary to reassure one another that it’s true. In another way, however, we aren’t special at all but rather members of the great family of humanity. We need to look after and care for one another, to be willing to put our own needs aside for a moment and tend to someone with greater need. None of us are too good to care for another with compassion and love, because doing so is the definition of what it is to be human.
