Religion’s Smallness (Daily Teaching for 2/10/14)

Ultimately, religion cannot help but be smaller than what it points to – whether we call what it points to God, transcendence, enlightenment, or something else. We run into problems when we start treating our religion as if IT was the goal of the spiritual path. One of the ways this has been described is mistaking the finger pointing at the moon for the moon itself. It’s an exercise in missing the point!
