Sometimes when I watch my grandchildren (who are three and five years old) bicker with each other, it seems to me that as we age many of us may refine our techniques but our behaviors remain essentially the same. Most of the petty arguments we get into revolve around our egos being wounded. While that’s understandable in toddlers, it’s really quite unattractive among adults. Temper tantrums caused by not getting our way ought to be left in childhood where they are developmentally necessary.
