If we are going to honestly assess and understand the teachings of Jesus we need to start by admitting that he did not believe himself to be God, he did not intend to start a new religion, and he was never a Christian. To say, therefore, that Jesus wants us to evangelize the world and convert it to Christianity so that everyone will worship him is a bit of a stretch, to say the least.
