Daily Teaching for Thursday, July 11th

There are people who seem to be unable to hold someone in esteem once they discover they have flaws. People criticize Mother Theresa because she made some unfortunate statements about AIDS, they wont Canonize Thomas Merton because he fell in love, The Dalai Lama isn’t progressive enough on LGBT issues, and on and on. We all have blind spots, we all have weaknesses, and we all have strengths. If you are going to tear people down who have done great things because they were human and therefore less than perfect, you damn sure had better be perfect yourself or you are nothing more than another hypocrite on the dung pile.
