Those who believe that one of the purposes of religion is to control the beliefs and behavior of others are primarily responsible for the decline of institutional Christianity in America. Jesus never said, “Go forth, bitch about and control others.” Rather he encouraged his followers to clean up their own house and in so doing to lead by example.
