One of the weaknesses of the Emerging Church movement, in my opinion, is that it is rather myopic in its view of Christianity. Most Emergent writers seem to assume that Christianity consists only of mega-church, non-denominational expressions of Evangelicalism and Pentecostalism. They also struggle with their perceived need to find justification for nearly everything they do in scripture, which is not unlike wearing a straight jacket to the gymnastics meet of life.
