While it is certainly understandable for a community to feel great relief and joy when a threat to their safety has been secured, there was a certain blood lust and nationalism in the celebrations in the greater Boston area that suggests that we haven’t really evolved beyond a very tribal consciousness despite all of our technological advances.
Good point. I would not expect technological advances to advance us beyond tribalism, would you?
I would say that techological advances likely reinforce tribalism, as the tribal mentality tends to be constantly on the lookout for better ways to protect the tribe and advance its cause.
