Daily Teaching for Friday, March 29th

Today is Good Friday in the Christian Tradition, that day that Jesus was crucified. At various times throughout history different aspects of his death have been emphasized in popular spirituality. During the time of the Black Plague, for example, people tended to focus on the wounds of Jesus on the cross. I wonder if we might come to understand this day as first and foremost a day of love? It was loving too much and rocking the apple cart of his day too consistently that led him to be arrested and killed. Are we willing to love even if it costs us our lives?
