One of the primary goals of spirituality is the perception of reality precisely as it is. Often times we unconsciously layer “stories” on top of our experiences that color how we understand that experience for the worse. A simple example would be stepping on a nail and being immediately convinced we are going to lose our foot. A subtler example is believing that because our last relationship ended we are eternally unlovable. Meditation helps us to cut through “story” and get to experience in the least distorted way possible. It is the ultimate prescription for drama reduction!
