We travel to Chicago today. Chicago is an interesting town. It has always seemed like home to me, even though I have never lived there. It’s a town loaded with deja vu and I never have been able to understand why, but it always make a trip there interesting. Are there places that have seemed familiar to you in a similar way?

Charleston SC for me. It always seemed like the ghosts of the Antebellum South were there. It was in the air, a sort of mysterious, grand society infused with pretentions and evil and suffering of slavery just under the brocade surface. When I am there I am transfilxed but slightly nervous. It is all in the air there and is still the locus of dissension in this country today. A lot at play there.
