Daily Teaching for Friday, December 7th

Yesterday I stepped on the core of a pear while walking on the sidewalk. I didn’t see it, and when I stepped on it I was sure I had stepped on dog poop. Looking back at the white, pulpy mess, I saw that if our perception can confuse fruit and feces perhaps we need to slow down our habitual responses to others to be sure we are responding mindfully rather than to a distorted perception of events.
