The Summer Solstice. I don’t like it. It’s hotter than hell, and from here on out every day is a little shorter. The Winter Solstice is better, it means that every day will be a little longer and a little warmer. In truth, the world got along just fine before these concepts existed. A lot of what causes us distress are concepts we have invented to describe our understanding of the world. If I didn’t know today was the longest day of the year, it probably would bother me. What other ideas that we hold onto cause us distress?
