To the extent that we are unable, or worse yet refuse, to see the truth of our commonality with all living beings – most especially other humans – our world is diminished. When I can look at your suffering and believe that I have nothing to do with it and it impacts me not a bit, I have started to die inside. The only hope for me is to see that everything and everybody is inseparably interconnected.
Hi Craig, this is a very clear and simple way that I can explain to my friends why I don’t “hate” someone. I may be terribly upset by someones ‘actions’ but I can’t find it in myself to ‘hate’ the person. I can’t help but feel sorry for someone who could hurt-physically/mentally/spiritually, someone or something else. Some terrible thing(s) may have happened to result in such ‘terrible’ actions. Hurt and pain is too often a result of hurt and pain.
