Very often it seems that long lists of things to do pile up just waiting for us when the weekend arrives. To be sure, there are some things that we have to get done on the weekend, but an important spiritual practice is taking on of out two weekend days as a Sabbath, a day of rest – which doesn’t mean a day of frenetic, activity without a purpose! It means intentional rest, leaving whatever we didn’t finish for next weekend. The chores will still be there, and we will heal ourselves by taking our Sabbath.
