I heard a clergy person on Television yesterday say that people should be angry with God for not protecting victims of last Friday’s tornadoes. While I think it’s fine to feel whatever you want toward God, and with apologies to the clergy person, the notion that God sends disasters and protects (or fails to protect) people from them represents an extremely primitive, tribal view of God that I cannot endorse.

A god who punishes or refuses to protect???? WTF???? No apologies for being harsh, but people that truly believe this of their god have my sympathy. To me that is quite a frightful way to exist. Thank you for your ‘daily teaching’ Craig, may it lead to some comfort for some-one; or two….or three…..or????????????
