We had our first significant snowfall here in Milwaukee yesterday, although it wasn’t nearly what they predicted. If you haven’t ever experienced snow, you really need to. I am as guilty as anyone of complaining about it when it piles up so deep there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to put it, but when it falls it is absolutely beautiful. It’s pristine whiteness seems to cover even the ugliest things with a glistening beauty – and the world seems especially silent while it snows. It brings a peace unlike anything else I have experienced, which energizes me for complaining like a mad man when I shovel it.
